2017 Maid of Honor Symphony
This hybrid grape of Grenache Gris and Muscat was originally created in 1948 by Professor Olmo at UC Davis, making it a fairly new grape in the vitilculture world. This combination creates a softly sweet wine with a floral melody and hints of sumer melon, pear, and rose petal. A fun and light hearted wine that is both flirty and sassy, just like your Maid of Honor!

Tasting notes
A unique crossing of Muscat and Grenache Gris vines makes this seductively aromatic wine an appeal to the senses. Aromas of summer melon, pear and rose petal. Bright flavors of white peach, honeysuckle, and hints of mandarin orange and meyer lemon shine through a delightful acidic balance. Minimial residual sugar allows for a softly sweet wine to balance fun aromatics.
Production notes
Production Process:
-
Grapes are harvested in the beginning of September. They are hand picked and hand sorted at the vineyard.
-
Grapes are destemmed and softly crushed. The must is pressed immediately gently separated from its skins.
-
24 hour cold soak begins and then fermentation begins at a controlled temperature.
-
The wine is then transferred to stainless steel where aging, clarification and body stability concludes.

A fun and flirty wine that pairs perfectly with citrus and summer salads, grilled fish and smoked dishes. Curry, thai and asian spiced foods create a perfect compliment to this light white. Spiced and savory desserts are a must for the Maid of Honor.

Katy Carroll Jones was born in Truckee, CA and is the daughter of Russ Jones. Growing up in Truckee, she also became an avid skier, enjoying downhill early in life and then cross country and biathlon competitively. She graduated from Truckee High, and went on to go to college at Gonzaga University. She met her husband while working as a server at Gar Woods (he was the chef at the time). They have a lovely house in Truckee and two gorgeous dogs. She still skis often with the family, and enjoys overlanding and rock crawling in their family Jeep Rubicon. She has grown up in the winery (literally) and for 30 years has had a hand in all aspects of the wine business. She started working full time for Truckee River Winery in 2009, when the "Ranch" was opened on Brockway Road. She was one of the first tasting room associates of the winery. Over the years, her roles and duties increased and she became the first Director of Sales and Marketing, bookkeeper, Event Coordinator and Wine Club manager, among other titles. In 2015, she became the General Manager of Truckee River Winery and in 2017 became the White Winemaker and part owner. She loves making all the white wines, and has enjoyed increasing the white wine program. Her Rose varietals are a point of pride and her Ramato of Pinot Grigio is a fun and lovable wine for all.
